His name is Andrew Shepherd and he IS the president.
Michael Douglas and Annette Bening starred in the Aaron Sorkin-penned film, “The American President,” about a widowed commander in chief who makes the grave mistake of falling in love with a lobbyist while under the 24-hour news cycle scrutiny of an election year.
Our take: The snappy, Sorkin-y goodness can’t be beat, and it makes us want to watch “The West Wing” immediately. Bening crushes some firecracker monologues throughout, but it’s Douglas who steals the show with the impromptu press conference where he throws down the gauntlet to his political opponent and wins back the woman he loves.
