Star-studded trivia to prove your shine

The stars were out on Sunday, kicking off award season and prompting this star-themed trivia quiz.

I’m still catching up on all the Golden Globes coverage from Sunday night’s awards. One of my favorite sites, Lainey Gossip, has awesome coverage, including this insightful take from Duana that is a dress review on its face but absolutely nails why watching Renee Zellweger’s acceptance speech made me feel so embarrassed for her.

Like Moira Rose, awards is my favorite season.

On to the quiz, which is all about stars — though not the red carpet kind.

Questions:

  1. Producer Darren Star is best known for creating “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Sex and the City.” But he’s also the producer and creator of what current TV Land show, starring Sutton Foster and Hilary Duff, about a woman who lies about her age to get a job?
  2. Sorry, Pete Best. Ringo Starr got the job as the Beatles’ drummer after you and then they hit the big time. What was Ringo’s real name?
  3. What oil company, a subsidiary of Chevron, has a logo that features a star inside a circle?
  4. Aside from the sun, Sirius is the brightest star that can be viewed from Earth. J.K. Rowling went down the list a bit when she came up with this middle name for her character Sirius Black’s brother, Regulus: It’s the fourth brightest.
  5. The Dallas Stars have been playing in the Lone Star State since 1993. What name and home state did the franchise have prior to that?

Answers up after Brad Pitt’s acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical or Comedy. Have you seen “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” yet? Brad’s great in it, but mainly it’s the movie I wish Leonardo DiCaprio had “finally” won an Oscar for, instead of the stupid “Revenant.”

Answers:

  1. “Younger”
  2. Richard Starkey
  3. Texaco
  4. Arcturus
  5. Minnesota North Stars
