Oh, man, that’s a good song name

“Hey Jude.” “Angry Johnny.” “Alejandro.” The Beatles, Poe and Lady Gaga are all in the club of artists with songs with a man’s name in the title.

I always thought there were more songs with girls’ names in the title, but when I started writing this quiz, I discovered there are way more dude-centric songs than you would think. Equal opportunity balladeering, I suppose.

Ooh, wee-ooh… Rivers and the gang looked oddly at home at Arnold’s.

Songs with a man’s name in the title trivia playlist jumps off now:

1. Dion had a 1968 hit with what song about three men who each died by an assassin’s bullet?

2. Jim Croce warned his listeners about what “bad, bad” man in a 1973 tune?

3. Weezer released a nostalgic “Happy Days”-themed video for what song named for a ‘50s rock and roll icon?

4. When ABBA sang, “There was something in the air that night,” who were they talking to?

5. Janis Joplin covered this Kris Kristofferson song and had the biggest chart hit of her career.

Answers up after Hey, Jude,” possibly my favorite Beatles song, which was written by Paul McCartney for John Lennon’s son, Julian (who was nicknamed Jude), to comfort him while his parents were getting divorced.

Answers:

  1. “Abraham, Martin and John”
  2. “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown”
