Robert Pattinson cast as Bruce Wayne, Batman trivia ensues

The man who was Edward Cullen has been confirmed as the new Batman, and if you have a problem with that, you’ve come to the wrong trivia blog.

Robert Pattinson Batman trivia
From vampire … to bat.

I think Robert Pattinson is going to be terrific as the Caped Crusader. He’s got the edgy, manic quality and deep reserves of emo melancholy that made Michael Keaton’s performance as Bruce Wayne so good. The other guys have gone either movie star, or slick, or stoic, or whatever Ben Affleck’s doing. Like Austin, let’s keep Batman weird.

Pattinson is on the cover of the latest Variety, talking about his new movie, “The Lighthouse,” and what it was like being cast as Batman. He’s a fun interview, as always, and these pictures may be the best he’s ever taken.

To the trivia! Here’s a mini quiz related to the other men who’ve put on the cowl:

Michael Keaton

In “Spotlight,” Michael Keaton took on the challenge of playing what real-life newsman, who oversaw the Pulitzer Prize-winning team of reporters who broke the Catholic Church-sexual abuse scandal?

George Clooney

George Clooney is a certified movie star, maybe one of the last true A-listers who doesn’t need an Instagram following to command $20 million a picture. (Though he rarely even makes movies anymore, thanks to all that tequila money.) But he got his start in TV, playing what doctor on “ER”?

Val Kilmer

For those of a certain generation (read: me), Val Kilmer is the one and only Saint, playing Simon Templar in the 1997 film co-starring Elisabeth Shue. But for an older crowd, the man from the 1962-1969 British TV show “The Saint” is the only true Templar. Who played him?

Christian Bale

At the 2019 Golden Globes, Christian Bale won Best Performance by a Lead Actor in a Comedy or Musical for playing Dick Cheney in “Vice.” When he took the stage to make his acceptance speech, the internet collectively lost its mind at the realization that he has what specific type of accent?

Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck was notoriously snubbed for the Best Director Oscar for “Argo,” not even getting a nomination. But he got his second little gold man anyway that year when he won as a producer of the movie, which took home Best Picture. What was Affleck’s first Oscar for?

Answers up after the trailer for “The Lighthouse” which looks batshit crazy, but that just makes me want to see it more.

Answers:

  • Keaton: Walter V. “Robby” Robinson
  • Clooney: Dr. Doug Ross
  • Kilmer: Roger Moore
  • Bale: Wales
  • Affleck: Best Original Screenplay for “Good Will Hunting.”
