LA Confidential

It's no secret: 'L.A. Confidential' is awesome

I’m working on a new trivia book that is all about ’90s movies. It might be my favorite decade of filmmaking, and that includes all the cheesy garbage. But one movie that is most certainly not cheesy garbage is “L.A. Confidential.”

Based on a James Ellroy novel, the 1997 classic stars Guy Pearce, Kim Basinger, Russell Crowe, James Cromwell and Kevin Spacey. (I know, I know, but I’m not erasing his whole filmography just because he’s a terrible person.)

It’s legit one of my favorite movies, and if it wasn’t for “Titanic” coming out in the same year, it would have won ALL the Oscars.

How much do you recall about “L.A. Confidential”?

Questions:

  1. What name did Ed Exley come up with for the unidentified man who killed his father and got away with the crime?
  2. Lynn tells Bud that after she gets enough money together, she’s leaving L.A. to open a dress boutique in her hometown, because what city’s girls “need a little glamour”?
  3. Before he is murdered, Matt Reynolds reveals to Jack Vincennes that Pierce Patchett is behind what high-end call girl service?
  4. What off-the-record and on-the-Q.T. celebrity gossip rag does Sid Hudgens operate?
  5. Because of her plastic surgery, Sue Lefferts’ mother has a hard time identifying her daughter’s body. What physical feature does she see that convinces her it’s Sue?

Answers up after the trailer for “L.A.” Confidential.” Seriously, if you haven’t seen it, check it out.
