James Dean

CGI James Dean officially one of the worst ideas ever

James Dean famously starred in just three movies before his tragic and untimely death in a car accident in 1955: “East of Eden,” “Rebel Without a Cause” and “Giant.” But according to a production company made up entirely of — presumably — monsters, he will soon have a fourth credit: as a CGI recreation.

No. Nope. Super no. ALL THE NO.

James Dean

Apparently Dean’s estate has given Magic City Films permission to do this, and they’ve “cast” him in a new movie called “Finding Jack,” a Vietnam War action drama.

My friends, this is not superimposing a vacuum onto old footage of Fred Astaire dancing around to make a new commercial for Dirt Devil. This is creating a whole performance out of thin air. This will be Dean’s fourth screen role — part of his legacy — and he will have absolutely no power over or participation in its creation.

Because he’s been dead for 64 years!

Where’s the change.org petition to fight this? I’ll sign it.
